Getting Your Skin Halloween Ready with Target Beauty.

Things are about to get scary and spooky, my friends—Halloween is just around the corner! Although I tend to keep it simple on the costume front, the elaborate makeup that can come with Halloween can take a toll on your skin. To battle some of these skin-care woes, I paid a visit to Target to chat it up with my Target Beauty Concierge and get the scoop on how you can set up your skin for success to make sure your Halloween is all treats and no tricks. A look at how to prep for a full face of makeup:

Before you apply your makeup, you’re going to want your skin to be a nice blank canvas! Start by washing your face with a gentle cleanser, such as Yes to Cucumbers Gentle Milk Cleanser, that will leave you squeaky clean without drying out your skin. Next, buff away any dry skin by exfoliating both your face and lips with St. Ives Pink Lemonade and Mandarin Scrub, and e.l.f.’s Studio Lip Exfoliater (Seriously, how brilliant is this?! Perfect pre-lipstick prep!) Apply a thin layer of your favorite moisturizer (mine is Olay Active Botanicals Moisturizing Day Lotion), give it a few minutes to soak, and apply a primer like Sonia Kashuk’s to smooth out skin and even out your complexion. Now you’re officially good to go with a perfect base for your makeup!

After you’ve finished your Halloween makeup masterpiece, lock your makeup in place with NYX Setting Spray, which will help fight shine and oil so you’re looking great no matter how late you party. At the end of the night, be sure to give your face a good wash before you head to bed (there’s nothing worse for you skin than sleeping in makeup, especially heavy Halloween makeup!). Start with L’Oreal Paris Clean Artiste Oil-Free Eye Makeup Remover on a cotton round to remove your eye makeup (it even works wonders on waterproof mascara), followed by wiping off your foundation with Olay Fresh Effects Everything Off makeup wipes. Follow up with Biore Deep Charcoal Cleanser to clean deep into pores, and voila—back to reality without any ghoulish side effects on your skin!

Whether you’re getting ready for Halloween or a wedding, a full face of makeup can take a toll on our skin—but it doesn’t have to! Once again, my Target Beauty Concierge has saved the day with some amazing skin-care tips and tricks. You can find out more about the Target Beauty Concierge program at target.com/beautyconcierge.
